Guatemala’s Quick Photo Doubles Sales Revenue with Taopix Photo Commerce Platform
August 2017 – Guatemalan photo retailer, Quick Photo, has reported a 100% increase in revenue and a 300% growth in unit sales since the launch of its online photo retail business with Taopix in May this year. The Guatemala City business entered the photographic business in 1981 when it opened its first store selling a range of photographic equipment and accessories. It now operates 62 outlets across the country.
Quick Photo expanded into the online photo business in 2004 and has steadily grown its online presence with its successful picapic.com web store.
General Manager, Ramiro Gonzalez, was introduced to Taopix at the Dscoop Conference in San Antonio in 2016 and was impressed with what he saw: “We really liked the Taopix mobile user journeys and immediately realised how Taopix could help us to sell different products in a different way.”
“In the two months since we launched, we’ve doubled sales compared to this time last year and we’re very happy. The market has been challenging throughout the year for different aspects of the business but online has grown 100%. We’ve attracted many new customers since our launch, especially those wishing to use their Smartphones to design and order. These customers are contributing around 20% to our online revenue.”
“These figures are really satisfying considering we launched at what is usually a slow time of year for the photo gift business. In Guatemala, sales start to pick from now until the end of the year so we expect to see a return on our investment by the end of this year.”
“We’re very proactive on social media and using the popular platforms to drive people to our website. We’re also in negotiations with three payment gateway platforms and a major telecoms provider to offer their customers an easy way to design and buy photo products online.”
Quick Photo’s retail stores are also involved in helping customers buy photo gifts. Customers can visit their local outlet and learn more about what they can do with the Taopix Designer. They can then order online and choose to collect their photo gift from their local store or have it delivered to home.
Gonzalez added “Mugs are our best seller from our photo gift range. We’re also looking forward to getting started with our new calendar range next month. It’s great that our customers can now make calendars starting from any month of year, they couldn’t do that with our old software. They can also customise their own dates and add images to dates, this is a big plus. The best feature I have found is how easy it is for people to upload pictures to their projects. You can do a magazine or photo book in about 10 minutes.”
“We’re very happy with how Taopix support has helped us from the beginning. We see that Taopix is evolving all the time and we really like the new 3D Designer. We’re planning to introduce 3D products soon. It will definitely give us a different approach; customers will be able to see their product before they purchase – it will be a big hit I think.”
“Taopix has given us a new way to interact with our customers. We know people like to take lots of photos on their phones but our challenge has always been how to get those photos from phone to print? How do we help our customers to interact with their memories? Now every time time they see a printed version of their favourite photos, they can start to relive the memories – that’s something we don’t experience a lot. That’s how we see Taopix, as a game-changer.”
Alejandro Gamboa, Business Development Manager for Taopix in Mexico adds “We are so proud to have such a proactive partner as PicaPic. They’ve really done an amazing job with our technology in such a short time and have really embraced the online opportunity. Their social media activities are encouraging new and existing customers to buy more and helping to fuel the significant growth in online business in Latin America.
